We at Caring Candies CC are committed to Food Health and Safety and ensure that we reach and maintain the standards set by the Global Food and Safety Institute (GFSI), which incorporates:
- SABS 049:2001 - South African Standard Code of Practice – Food Hygiene Management
- Good Manufacturing Practices
- Good Hygiene Practices
- R918 (Regulations governing general hygiene requirements for food premises and the transport of food)
This is achieved by regular a Food Safety Management System audits performed by SAFSIS (Southern African Food Safety Inspection Service cc)
We commit to ensuring that all Caring Candies products produced onsite are sugar-free, artificial sweetener-free, artificial colourant-free, preservative-free and allergen-free. This is achieved by taking extreme care when selecting raw ingredients.
In addition, we also commit to ensuring that all Caring Candies products produced on site are free from contaminants, including, but not limited to, pests, pathogens, micro-organisms, and foreign bodies. This is achieved by effective pest control and risk assessments, regular laboratory testing and taking adequate precautions to prevent exposure to contaminants.
Only appropriate food-grade cleaning chemicals are used onsite and they are stored in a separate area, away from product and raw materials.
Packaging material used in contact with food is checked and deemed free from contamination before being used. Where glass containers are used for packaging, suitable handling procedures are in place to eliminate possible contamination of the food by glass fragments or splinters.
